America 250: Revisiting the Bicentennial Freedom Train

Join us for a group of presentations and discussions with people who worked on the Freedom Train project celebrating America’s Bicentennial. Presenters and panelist include people with experience on the project in many different ways.

The event will begin with Ed Berntsen and Doyle McCormack sharing how the idea of the Freedom Train was born and how it became a reality. This vital history will be followed by presentations by people who worked on the project, from engineers to designers. In addition to individual presentations, the event will include a moderated panel discussion.

The event will take place in person at Pacific Northwest Railroad Archive and online. Some of our presenters will be connecting to the event from Portland. You can attend the full 3-hour event, or join us for part of it.
